Bring the whole family to the ranch for an unforgettable evening of nature and discovery! While the birds put on their “Sunset Show,” your little explorers can embark on a special mission to learn all about our favorite feathered neighbors. Come early to stroll, enjoy the farm, and see our animals prior to the event
What Families Will Experience
• The Sunset Swirl
Watch as the sky fills with Purple Martins returning from their day of foraging, circling in a massive swirling “tornado” above the ranch before dropping into their houses for the night.
• The “Liquid Glide”
Keep your eyes on the pond! Because Purple Martins almost never land on the ground, they drink while flying. You may see them glide just inches above the water for a split-second sip without ever slowing down.
• The High-Speed Bath
Watch for the birds to “bounce” off the water’s surface to splash their feathers before soaring back up to dry off in the sunset.
• Acrobatics in the Sky
See the “Pros”—the ASY (After Second Year) adults—perform impressive “F-16” style maneuvers as they hunt for one last dragonfly before bedtime.
• Pond-Side Picnic
Our Grill & Graze food truck will be open throughout the event, serving up fresh meals and local favorites for the whole family.
The “Purple Martin Mission” Scavenger Hunt
Every guest under 21 will receive a Purple Martin Field Guide Scavenger Hunt card upon arrival and become an official Purple Martin Researcher for the evening.
• The Goal
Spot 5 specific bird behaviors around the farm, such as a “Pond Skimmer” or a “Porch Protector.”
• The Reward
Once the mission is complete, head over to the Grill & Graze food truck after 7:45 PM to swap your card for a complimentary scoop of ice cream.

Beat the line! We highly recommend pre-ordering your picnic boxes when you book your tickets. Pre-ordering ensures there is no waiting in line—your snacks will be ready for quick pickup so you don’t miss a second of the aerial show.

Nature’s Timeline: A Note on the Date
Because migration is guided by the 850mb wind “highway,” nature ultimately sets the schedule. If a cold front delays the birds, we will notify guests at least 48 hours in advance. You will have the option to transfer your ticket to the adjusted date or receive a full refund.

• Can we bring our own food or drinks?
To support our ranch and winery, we kindly ask that no outside food or beverages be brought in. Our Grill & Graze food truck will be open, and pre-ordered picnic boxes are available for your convenience.
• What happens if it rains?
The Fly-In often continues in light rain. In case of severe weather, we will notify you by 4:00 PM on the day of the event for a full refund or reschedule.
• What should we bring?
We recommend cozy blankets or low-profile lawn chairs for the best view of the sunset show. Also, bring binoculars if you have them.
