Curious about what agroforestry looks like in Indiana?
Come spend a hands-on day learning (and snacking!) under the trees at Woolly Yak Ranch & Winery!
PIFF is partnering with the @savannainstitute and @woollyyakranchwinery to host this Field Day and Farm Tour on September 27th in Arcadia, IN.
What’s Agroforestry?
In short, it’s the intentional planting of trees or shrubs on farms—practices like silvopasture, alley cropping, windbreaks, and more—to boost productivity, climate resilience, and biodiversity.
What to Expect:
Agroforestry Basics + Site Planning — Learn from Xinyuan Shi (Savanna Institute) and nut tree expert Jim McKenna on how to get started with agroforestry and what it takes to manage tree systems like northern pecans.
Walking Farm + Orchard Tour — Explore pecan and yak silvopasture, pawpaw and persimmon groves, and more with farm owners Chris & Cathy Lammer.
Hearty snacks + fruitful conversation!
